Is Your COOP Strategy Out of Date Or "We'll Cross That Bridge When We Get There"?

The New Virtual Organization World

It's a New Principled and Civilized World, It's Virtual, and It's Organized

COOP is the acronym for Continuity Of Operations Plan.

Does Each Department in your organization have one?  Do any of the Critical Business Units have one?   Does your entire Business Location have one?  Does your Entire Organization have one?

If you have many business locations, ditto the aforementioned questions for each location.

As a leader, executive or manager,  is that something worth losing any sleep over or is that somebody else's problem?   Is that strictly a Human Resources,  Emergency Management & Disaster Recovery Team (that you may formally be a member of on paper) or the CIO's problem?

Let's face it, at least 90% of  Small Businesses have NO Continuity of Operations Plan.   And for the 10% that do have one, it's only on paper or in digital format.   It's the sort of bridge crossing that no one wants to be reminded of.   Instead,  most people prefer to cross that bridge when they get there.

Well, what about Midsize Businesses to Large Enterprises?   Whether or not your country's federal and state governments mandate that they have a formal Disaster Recovery Plan, as is the case here in the US, only about 30-35% of these organizations actually conduct realistic yearly disaster recovery exercises.   And, in many cases, these disaster recovery plans tend to be woefully out-of-date.

However, that being said, there is a difference between Continuity of Operations Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan.   Some experts in the field contend that Disaster Recovery is a subset of Continuity of Operations, however,  I beg to differ.

Difference Between Continuity of Operations Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan

In principle,  a Continuity of Operations Plan is equivalent to what I call, "Living a Safe and Healthy Lifestyle."  Which means, you do all the safe and healthy things that you need to do in order to make sure that you don't end up getting involved in a serious accident or getting sick; thence wind up going to the hospital for examination, medication, surgery or amputation - and convalescing.   And should anything happen to you that is beyond your control, you have put in place processes, systems and people who are able to carry on in a smooth and seamless fashion during your absence or incapacitation as if nothing ever happened to you.

Thus, the question for every single organization should be:  Regardless of what happens out there in the outside world that is beyond our control, how can our organization make sure that we can continue to operate without any sort of major interruption, if any?

Whereas a Disaster Recovery Plan is equivalent to what I call, "A Personal Guide to Best Doctors and Hospitals."  It focuses on all the things that you need to do AFTER you get sick or involved in a serious accident; gives you a list of the best hospitals and doctors;  and gives you an idea of how fast you can recuperate so you can go home and/or get back to work.

In that case, the question for every single organization is:   Should a disaster occur, regardless as to whether or not it were beyond our control, how fast can we recover and get things back to normal?

Alignment of Team Members Mindset to Plan Mindset Is Essential

To wit, the Continuity of Operations Plan mindset takes a holistic approach to business operations and focuses on prevention and mitigation of interruption, and business continuity.  As the old Ben Franklin saying goes,  an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Whereas the Disaster Recovery Plan mindset focuses on the restoration of systems and services after a disaster.

Therefore, in order to achieve plan convergence, a prerequisite for effective plan implementation, it is critical that the Mindset of Team Members is properly aligned with each Plan Mindset.  Otherwise, you will wind up with  Continuity of Operations Plan team members trying to implement a Disaster Recovery Plan  - and Disaster Recovery Plan team members trying to implement a Continuity of Operations Plan.

An Even Bigger Issue:  Today's COOP Strategy Needs to Evolve

The problem with every single organization's Continuity of Operations Plan is that they are designed by "Brick and Mortar" Executives for "Brick and Mortar" Organizations that are in the midst of a  World that is in the process of making a slow, albeit major and long overdue, transition to a World of Virtual Organizations:  The New Virtual Organization World.

That means, your COOP strategy must also take into consideration the issues, threats and vulnerabilities that your organization faces in this "Virtual World" as well as the opportunities that this Virtual World makes available to your organization in order to mitigate, manage, or even inoculate your organization from these threats.

What are these threats and are they something new?    Well, these are virtual, virtual  infrastructure, physical infrastructure,  environmental,  technological,  technical, financial, information, personnel safety, insider and governance threats to every single business unit as well as to the existence of your entire organization.    These threats  have been around and/or germinating since the beginning of the Web.  What makes things so urgent today is the fact that their manifestation and effects are now in full bloom and radiating throughout both the virtual and "brick and mortar" landscape;  there for all to see, feel and understand.

That means we can no longer pretend that these threats don't exist or that's something that we can put off for another day, week, month or year(s) while we deal with other more pressing issues, thinking "We'll Cross That Bridge When We Get There."    We are all standing right there in front of that bridge and turning back is not an option.

Crippling Threats to GOVERNMENT and BUSINESS Infrastructures Worldwide

For Example,  hacking today is no longer confined to nerdy kids looking for a thrill or claim to fame by launching DDOS (distributed denial of service) attacks or infecting your computer with viruses and trojans that slow down or crash your computer.  Nor is it confined to the domain of run-of-the-mill criminals looking to make a quick buck.

Today, hacking has gotten so sophisticated that it is now used as a Hybrid Warfare tool by not only  Governments (e.g., the recent attack on Venezuela's electric power grid which plunged the country into the dark ages and sent Healthcare and Healthcare System Providers and all other Critical Business and Government Infrastructures into a tailspin)  but also by every single major criminal enterprise or terrorist organization in every single country around the world.
Even the most sophisticated intelligence agencies from the most powerful countries in the world are not immune from these threats.
Moreover, during the years 2017 and 2018 alone, over 30 city and county governments  in the United States  reported  being subject to Ransomware Attacks by criminal organizations which crippled their computer systems for lengths of time which ranged anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months.  Even local Police Departments and Schools throughout the world wound up paying ransom in order to get their systems back online.
You can just imagine the sheer number of city and county governments which opted not to report  such attacks for public relations purposes.
And the year 2019 promises to be a boon year for ransomware attacks by criminal organizations worldwide.     From Lake City, Florida - $460,000 ::  Riviera Beach, Florida - $600,000 :: Atlanta, Georgia :: Baltimore, Maryland :: Denver, Colorado :: Albany, New York :: Fisher County, Texas :: Genesee County, Michigan,  etc.    (Not even the FBI, CIANSA or any other law enforcement or intelligence agency in the world could help them.)

As for businesses, one major European company Norsk Hydro which refused to pay ransomware is reported to have incurred over USD $57 million in expenses in order to restore their systems.   Even the CEO of JP Morgan Chase Jamie Dimon has admitted that their organization spends over USD $600 million a year in  cybersecurity expenses in order to protect their systems from cyber threats.

Where do ALL these malicious hackers (nerdy kids, criminals, criminal enterprises, terrorist organizations, and intelligence agencies) reside?  In a Virtual Environment....in the Cloud.  Where does the heart of  ALL of our Critical Infrastructure reside?  In a Virtual Environment....in the Cloud.  Where can ALL of our Critical Infrastructure be accessed?  In a Virtual Environment.....in the Cloud  and in a Brick and Mortar Environment.   Where can the damage to ALL of our Critical Infrastructure  be caused?  In a Virtual Environment.....in the Cloud  and in a Brick and Mortar Environment.

As the recent attacks on the power grids of Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Ukraine and  Russia  clearly demonstrate,  an attack on the heart of  a Country's Critical Infrastructure is no longer the stuff of science fiction or just some  hypothetical situation in case of a long predicted Armageddon by religious zealots.  Nor is it confined to the domain of an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack due to nuclear explosions at high altitudes over a country;  or a DEW (directed energy weapon) attack on a country's facilities; or a straight out Nuclear War.     Nor is the likelihood of such attack nothing but Fear Mongering by a bunch of preppers trying to sell MRE's (meal ready to eat), guns and ammunition,  and nicotine sticks.

This Is As Real As Real Can Get.  The future is here.

Time to Take Off the Blinders

Do you now see the problem that your organization faces in the above scenario?

Every single malicious actor or nefarious organization (from nerdy kids to criminals, criminal enterprises, terrorist organizations, government intelligence agencies) who can wreak havoc on your organization in both a Virtual Environment and Brick and Mortar Environment  resides in a Virtual Environment....in the Cloud.   It's their home turf and this is where they are most comfortable and extremely agile.  That means their presence and actions are not limited to a particular  building location, geography, topography, region, or country.   They live and breathe in a Virtual Environment .... in the Cloud.

They do not have to prepare Hacking Attack or Hybrid Warfare Plans to be stored away somewhere in the Cloud  and to participate in quarterly or yearly drills in a Virtual Environment.    The Virtual Environment is their home turf,  this is where they live and breathe,  instead of just a place where they have to prepare for and practice once or twice a year.

In light of the aforementioned, can you say the same thing about the Key People from Critical Business Units throughout your organization who are entrusted with the responsibility for - or have been delegated to implement plans relating to - Emergency Management,  Disaster Recovery,  and Business Continuity Of Operations?

The point being, when it comes to Business Continuity of Operations and Disaster Recovery,  no amount of drills in a Virtual Environment, if any,  can ever be enough in order to meet the critical challenges that your organization faces in today's Virtual World.
As well, this is NOT something that your organization can outsource to some other organization.
And as much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news, this is no longer about your country's version of  FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency),  CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) or DHS (Department of Homeland Security)  coming to the rescue in the event of  Earthquakes, Catastrophic Floods, Hurricanes, Pandemics, or Acts of Terror.   Nor  is it about your existing Business Continuity of Operations Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan which are primarily designed for "Brick and Mortar" Executives in "Brick and Mortar" organizations.

Why is that, you might say?   That's because ALL these agencies - including the FBI, CIA, NSA,  and  any other law enforcement or intelligence agency -  which are themselves "Brick and Mortar" organizations run and staffed by "Brick and Mortar" executives and personnel,  will NOT be immune or exempted from any All-Encompassing Attack on a Country's Critical Infrastructure.  You will all be in the same boat!

Their only option
(these alphabet government agencies) will be to  seek refuge in these DUMB's (Deep Underground Military Bases) in the West and other parts of the world that are completely disconnected from the power grid we all depend on.
That means your business, organization, institution or city will be left to fend for itself in any sort of worst-case scenario.   Ask the mayors of the cities of Baltimore, Maryland and Atlanta, Georgia what I mean by that.
Imperative Need For A Virtual Organization COOP Strategy:  A Virtual Organization COOP Force

Hence the need for you to also develop a Virtual Organization COOP Strategy for your very own  organization.

A strategy which requires the building of a Virtual Organization COOP Force for your very own business, organization, institution, city and country.    Such force will consist  of  Key People From ALL Departments and Critical Business Units throughout your organization who will also live and breathe in a 100% Virtual Organization Environment.

A new breed of Virtual Organization Leaders who have been highly trained in all aspects of how to function, operate, thrive, excel, manage and LEAD in both a "Virtual" and  "Virtual Organization" Environment in accordance with the virtual organization management discipline pioneered by its founder since 1997 (see Virtual Organization Leadership  Executive Training, Assessment and Certification  for Midsize and Large Enterprises).
VOMI (Virtual Organization Management Institute), in partnership with Virtual    Organization Leadership and VOMI Virtual Organization Academy, is the ONLY  organization in the world which offers - and is qualified to offer - such virtual organization leadership training and certification.
That means, these individuals must be recruited from ALL existing Departments and Critical Business Units throughout your organization.  Initially, they don't have to be nor are they required to have any existing IT or cybersecurity background in order to be selected.

Ideally,  though not a requirement, their training will begin at the same time so that they will all gain first-hand virtual organization leadership experience collaborating with each other so that,  when they return back to their organization upon completion of their training, they will at least have a solid foundation of virtual organization leadership and collaboration experience that they can build upon.

Upon completion of their initial Virtual Organization Leadership Executive Training, Assessment and Certification, they will then be assigned to your organization's newly created Virtual Organization COOP Force; at which point they will begin to receive extensive and continuous IT and cybersecurity training throughout the entire length of their tenure on the force.

This Virtual Organization COOP Force  must be Microcosm of your entire "brick and mortar" organization.   It must operate in parallel with your organization instead of being just an appendage or extension of an existing department or business unit.   Its hierarchy must be completely independent of the brick and mortar hierarchy.   Its entire Virtual Organization Infrastructure must be completely disconnected  (not just firewalled) from your organization's "brick and mortar" infrastructure;  yet, it must have the capability to tap into your organization's infrastructure in a one-way fashion so that it can both monitor and access it at anytime whenever the need arises.

The reason is simple:   Regardless of what happens to your "brick and mortar" organization's virtual or Cloud infrastructure,  your Virtual Organization COOP Force's Infrastructure will not be affected and its Daily Activities can  continue unimpeded.   That is what I call "Real" Business Continuity OOperations.   As well, this will allow your organization time to implement its existing "brick and mortar" Emergency Management Plan.

Confidentiality Is a Must.   The list of personnel assigned to this Virtual Organization COOP  Force must NOT be made public to all personnel throughout your organization.   Only Individuals Who Have a Need to Know their doppelganger  or a specific member(s) of the COOP Force can have access to the identity of such member(s).    As well, the name of the Leader of this COOP Force must NOT be publicly listed in the public directory listing of the organization as well as in any Hierarchical Organizational Chart of either the COOP Force or the brick and mortar organization.

Why is that, you might say?   The point being, why advertise to the world that you have an impregnable and impenetrable fortress?  That's an open invitation to everyone to try to storm your fortress and prove you wrong.   As well, you want to avoid altogether or, at the very least, substantially mitigate the effects of any sort of attempts to conduct widespread, highly coordinated, sophisticated and extensive infrastructure attacks and Human Compromise Operations on your organization's "brick and mortar" and virtual organization infrastructures and associated personnel.

To Whom Should The Head of the Virtual Organization COOP Force Report To?

Yikes!  I knew that question was coming.  Thus the reason why I decided to provide an adequate response which should soothe everybody's nerves as well as please all the primary stakeholders and powers-that-be within your organization.

Let's face it, regardless of the type, size and structure of an organization or business unit, silos of interest and turf wars are a fact of life in the corporate world - as well as in government;  thus can be expected.

However, that being said, the individual who gets to occupy this position, whatever you want to call it -  for discussion purposes, let's call it, "Chief, Virtual Organization COOP Force" -  is unique in so many aspects that s/he can ill afford to participate in company politics or get drawn into turf battles and internecine wars which can only have a detrimental effect on the purpose and mission of the Virtual Organization COOP Force.  Here are the reasons why:

First and foremost, the composition of this COOP Force is drawn from every single department and Critical Business Unit throughout your entire "brick and mortar" organization.

That means, imaginary  COOP Force member,  Senior Financial Analyst Jack Suleiman,  who was recruited from the "brick and mortar" Finance Department must be able to continue to cooperate and maintain cordial relations with his former colleagues as well as serve as a focal point of contact  between the COOP Force and such department.  Ditto for all other members of the COOP Force.

The net effect of such COOP Force composition means that the Chief, Virtual Organization COOP Force gets to establish on a daily basis, either personally or through his staff, an excellent rapport and strong relationships with each and every major  Department and Critical Business Unit throughout your organization.   That means s/he gets to represent and advocate on behalf of ALL silos and turfs throughout your organization; thence doesn't have a dog in anybody's fight.

As well,  due to the sensitivity, tremendous power, responsibility and influence of this position,  s/he cannot afford to either be, or be perceived as being, beholden to any single individual, department or business unit throughout the entire organization.

Therefore, I can now answer your question:   S/He should only report to a Virtual Organization Infrastructure Protection and Security Committee of the Board of Directors, consisting of a minimum of three (3) members - one of whom must be the current Head of Emergency Management and the Heads of  two other  Most Critical Business Units in the organization.

This appointment must be approved and ratified by the Search Committee of the Board of Directors.  However, this person's removal  (not appointment) from that position must be by unanimous vote from ALL the members of the Virtual Organization Infrastructure Protection and Security Committee.   The Chairman of the Board of Directors must specifically be restricted from membership on these two committees.   These checks and balances are a must in order for the Virtual Organization COOP Force to fulfill its mandate free from internal or external interference or any sort of human compromise operations.

In Conclusion

For the sake of brevity (you can laugh a little), many details regarding the implementation of such Virtual Organization COOP Force for Midsize and Large Enterprises have been omitted from this document.  Nonetheless, I hope I was able to convey its essence and the urgency of now for concrete action  (see Virtual Organization Leadership  Executive Training, Assessment and Certification  for Midsize and Large Enterprises).

As well, the foregoing information also applies to a tremendous number of Innovation-Focused Startups and many other small businesses who could benefit from this strategy, albeit on a much smaller scale (see Virtual Organization Leadership  Executive Training, Assessment and Certification  for Small Businesses).

A very strong case can also be made for many City, County, State, Provincial, and Federal Governments worldwide (see Virtual Organization Leadership  Executive Training, Assessment and Certification  for Governments).

Can't Afford to Join The New Virtual Organization World Consortium? Here Is How ...

The New Virtual Organization World
It's a New Principled World, It's Virtual, and It's Organized

If you have ever been excited at the prospect of becoming a Distinguished Member of The New Virtual Organization World Consortium :: the elite and most prestigious consortium in the world ::  after hearing or reading about us;  and then suffered a massive heart attack after taking a look at the qualification requirements and the membership dues on the website;  then the rest of this article will definitely be "Welcome News and Sweet Music" to your ears.

Here is an excellent solution we are making available to all ardent followers and supporters of The New Virtual Organization World:  Go the "Consortium Sponsorship" route.

Here Is How It Works:

As you may already know, the primary focus of The New Virtual Organization World Consortium (and our other consortia) is on Global 5000 and other leading organizations (as described on the site) and Governments who have (1) a huge financial and economic stake in what we are doing, and (2) a deep interest  in the arrival and mission of The New Virtual Organization World

However, that being said, there are many individuals as well as small organizations around the world::  that we are NOT focused on since they do not meet our #1 criteria: Global 5000 Organization and Other Leading Organization or Government::  but who would like to join the consortium because they do meet our #2 criteria:  Must have a "deep interest" in the mission of The New Virtual Organization World.

In which case,  we give them an opportunity to personally invite  any organization or government within their existing  Circle of Influence (which meets both criteria)  to go to our website and (1) formally submit a consortium membership application and  (2) to have himself or herself (the individual who sent the invitation) designated on the application as their official Distinguished Member representative.

If you fall into this category of our supporters who would like to take advantage of this unique, career-changing, groundbreaking, life transforming and historic opportunity, please note that you'll need to observe the following protocol:
  • You cannot and must not  contact any random organization.  It MUST be a Global 5000 organization, Other Leading Organization or Government that you've had dealings with;  that you either currently have (or had) an excellent relationship with;  and which meets both criteria for consortium membership.
  • Regardless as to whether or not you can personally afford to pay the consortium membership dues out-of pocket,  you  cannot and must not fill out the consortium membership application on behalf of another organization or government  (even if such organization agrees to reimburse you or provide you with the funds for the membership dues).   The application can only be filled out by that Global 5000 organization, other leading organization or government which meets both criteria  for consortium membership.  The bottom line is this:  You cannot represent a third party without our express knowledge and formal consent.
  • Regardless as to whether or not you can personally afford to pay the consortium membership dues out-of-pocket,  consortium membership is open only to organizations or governments which meet our membership criteria.   In other words, the Consortium does NOT accept applications or fees from individuals.
  • If a new Consortium Member Organization or Government (which you had invited) agrees to have you represent them as their official Distinguished Member representative,  the Consortium will require from YOU  an official document which confirms the terms of the agreement between YOU and the new Consortium Member Organization or Government.
Such agreement MUST include how you are being remunerated by that organization and the minimum total annual compensation you will receive by that organization during your first year on the consortium.
We require that such organization or government pay you a minimum total annual compensation of USD $250,000 (You can always negotiate for a higher amount.  For the type of work you will be doing and the astronomical amount of benefits that your sponsor stands to gain from your participation on the consortium, the recommended amount is USD $500,000).   Toward the end of this article, you will get the full picture.
WHY IS THAT, you might say?
Well, from the consortium's  standpoint, it is critical that the compensation you receive from such organization or government be commensurate with the caliber of executives that we expect on the consortium.
If such organization or government does NOT deem you worthy of this level of compensation, there can only be 2 reasons for that:  1) They do not believe that you are worth this level of compensation based on their perception of you or their prior experience with you.  2) Or they just don't really have a clue as to what the consortium is REALLY ALL ABOUT and WHAT'S IN IT FOR THEM.
The standard Costs vs. Benefits or Return On Investment consideration which must be addressed prior to getting any sort of buy-in.
In other words, that can only mean that you yourself haven't taken the time to really understand what the consortium is all about; thus unable to educate that organization on Costs vs. Benefits or Return On Investment in one simple paragraph  (without having the need to prepare presentations, flowcharts, spreadsheets, budgets, cash flow projections, etc.).
As well, we have another critical reason for insisting that you are properly compensated for your Distinguished Member representation on the consortium.  There is a tremendous learning curve involved for a new Distinguished Member and, therefore, we cannot afford to have any sort of member turnover due to any member feeling that they are not being properly compensated.
It is just too damn expensive (in more ways than you can even imagine) for the Consortium to have to bring in someone to pick up where a former member left off.  We cannot afford to have a Trump Administration turnover rate for the sort of work that our mission entails.
  • Membership participation for ALL Distinguished Member representatives MUST be on a full-time basis (standard 40 hours per week).   NO part-time work is allowed.   If you have a busy schedule and can't meet that requirement, then you will NOT be able to participate.
  • This is NOT a typical consortium.  It's a combination of  Consortium, Think Tank, Diplomatic Forum, Futuristic City-State Enclave Research,  Postdoctoral Fellowship Research on Virtual Organizations, and Virtual Organization Leadership Executive Sabbatical - all rolled up into one.
The New Virtual Organization World Consortium is  the Most Prestigious Consortium anywhere in the world and I personally challenge anyone anywhere in the world to prove otherwise.  We have a treasure trove of knowledge, information  and  intellectual property to share with those who "truly have a deep interest in The New  Virtual Organization World."
I invite you to read:  An "Otherworldly" Financial and Economic System is Oxygen and Water For ... :: in order to get a very basic idea of the breadth and scope of our mission.
I guess you can now understand why Part-Time Work is NOT allowed :: why 100% Commitment is required :: why our membership dues are not your typical and average consortium fees :: and why we insist that YOU are properly compensated by your sponsor for your participation on the consortium.
(We just don't have the time to fart around and play games with curiosity seekers, lookie-loos, tire kickers and fence sitters.)
  • And last but not least,  prior to approaching any organization or government regarding the consortium,  I strongly recommend the following:  1) Do your homework!  Go to the Virtual Organization Management Institute Blog and read (as well as take the time to thoroughly understand) the last 10 articles.  2) Follow ALL the links in these articles; which will in turn provide you with a 360-degree view of VOMI and what we are all about.  3) Upon completion of tasks #1 and #2, then go ahead and prepare your very own comprehensive strategy in terms of how you would want to approach these organizations or governments that you would like to invite to join the consortium and have them appoint you as their Distinguished Member representative.
A Word of Caution:  Do NOT attempt to read everything at once or you will be totally overwhelmed.  As one of my colleagues stated, "Pierre ... There is so much interesting, relevant and rich material there. I also find it overwhelming."  However,  rest assured that  "there is a method to the madness."
The key to the gates of The New Virtual Organization World Consortium is to remain composed, focused  and patient.  It should take you anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 full month in order to complete these tasks.  If you are NOT willing (or just don't have the time) to devote that much effort in trying to fully understand what this is all about in order to secure a seat on the consortium and completely transform your life and career, then DISREGARD this article  and no further communication between you and the consortium is necessary.
I hope this helps. I tried to be as thorough and transparent as possible.

Principled Digital Marketing Strategy for "Otherworldly" Futurists, Pioneers and Innovators

The New Virtual Organization World
It's a New Principled World, It's Virtual, and It's Organized

According to conventional wisdom, if you have an idea, product, service or vision which is "way ahead of the curve" that you want to bring to market,  you first need to focus on "early stage adopters" in order to gain any sort of  traction which will eventually result in its widespread use or global adoption.

Traction in the form of psychological and market validation of your idea; ability to attract potential investors; recognition from (or being able to associate such idea, product, service or vision to) blue chip companies, "notable and influential figures" in your current (or future) industry, or governments; ability to recruit business partners and collaborators; and, last but not least, recruiting the necessary talent needed to evangelize (market) your organization to the public at large.

But how do you gain any sort of traction when you have an "Otherworldly" Idea, Product, Service or Vision?

First, let me define the term "Otherworldly" within the context of this conversation:   It is something which goes way beyond today's human comprehension and imagination:: irrespective of ethnicity, religion, culture, education and social strata.    (You will notice that I did not include "race" on that list since there is only one human race.)

In which case, it's no longer a matter of  what sort of sales and marketing tactics or strategies you need to employ in order to deal with issues pertaining to the level of "resistance to change" and  the "adoption rate" that your Otherworldly Idea, Product, Service or Vision is bound to encounter.

Rather, the challenge that you're really facing is the current state of human evolution:: it's a biological and scientific challenge of monumental proportions - a Time, Space and DNA challenge::  something that no amount of  sales experience, "slick" marketing and public relations campaigns,  or other psychological maneuvers and stratagems can overcome and resolve instantly or in the near to distant future:: and that no amount of TEDx events and conferences, training and education can immediately address.

The bottom line is this:  Plainly speaking,  today's humans are just too damn primitive and barbaric to immediately grasp otherworldly ideas and principles and, therefore,  we have absolutely no choice but to let Mother Nature take its course.

This means that,  as an Otherworldly Futurist, Pioneer or Innovator,  you should disabuse yourself of the following notions:  1) a need to put in place a timetable for achieving some clearly defined otherworldly goals and objectives, 2) a need to actively court or engage with your fellow brethren in their current mental state and at their current level of human evolution in order to impart your knowledge and message in a convincing fashion and gain some traction - It's a complete waste of time, 3) that you are some sort of Messiah or prophet sent to deliver humans from themselves - the simple fact is that You Are Not,  4) the need to gain recognition, fame and material wealth for your efforts - in all likelihood, Not In This Lifetime,   and, last but not least, 5) that your fellow humans want or need your help - the simple fact is that They Really Don't!

I am clearly aware that, by now, you are really confused about the role of  an Otherworldly Futurist, Pioneer or Innovator and wondering what the hell this is all about.   Well, the suspense is over and I can now tell you about your very important role.

You are just One of Many Seeds that Mother Nature sprinkles in the vast forest of the universe,  knowing full well that ONLY A TINY FEW of them will sprout to maturity and, in due time,  will bloom and radiate throughout the Cosmos.   Whether or not you will be one of that tiny few which will eventually sprout to maturity is NOT UP TO YOU.

Role of an Otherworldly Futurist, Pioneer or Innovator

Therefore, your role as an Otherworldly Futurist, Pioneer or Innovator is strictly limited to landing in that forest,  hoping that you don't fall in a spot heavily trafficked by other creatures who may eventually wind up trampling all over you, thus preventing you, this seed, from germinating.  Worse comes to worst, you could fall in an area where birds and other animals in the forest find you, Mother Nature's seed, to be a very tasty meal, caviar or other delicatessen.

There is no need to engage in any major blitz advertising and publicity campaign to announce your arrival, landing or presence in the forest.   Why is that, you might say?   That's because it will all fall on deaf ears.   As well, no tree, plant or animal in that forest cares about the landing of another seed :: to them, you are just one out of trillions of seeds that fall on the forest's grounds.

Therefore, just do your best at making an attempt to germinate in a hospitable environment.   That means, try to burrow yourself deep enough under the soil at your location and let fate or nature take its course.

Create Your Own Space, Embrace the Solitude and Begin to Disseminate

Within the context of human behavior for an Otherworldly person, germinating means: Create your very own space, Embrace the solitude you are bound to be in, Begin the process of disseminating the information about your "Otherworldly" Idea, Product, Service or Vision which goes way beyond today's human comprehension and imagination,  in a manner that is completely free of today's normal business constraints.

To wit, Refuse to Play the Game and don't be concerned about:  being validated by others;  the speed of your progress or rate of adoption, if any; and adhering to business protocols which are incompatible and inconsistent with your message and vision.   Thus, you become immune to the whims, vagaries and actions of others and have absolutely nothing to fear or lose.

And since you have nothing to lose, you are now empowered to conduct yourself at all times in a Principled manner and your digital marketing strategy must reflect this new outlook.       This means you will have to be 100% direct in your communication and messages at all times. You cannot push yourself onto others and attempt to invade their space.   There is no need to obfuscate or prevaricate in any way, shape or form.     You cannot attempt to manipulate others in any way, shape or form. You cannot make promises on which You Know Full Well You Cannot Deliver.  As a matter of fact, you are expressly forbidden from making any promises to anyone regarding the future.   You must NOT present yourself as some sort of  Messiah, a deliverer of souls from bondage to freedom and some other destination.

Refrain from playing the "number of followers" game.   This is NOT a popularity contest.   Refrain from playing the "number of members" game because One True Believer is worth a hell lot more than a Million empty suits or bench warmers who are out there sitting on the fences or standing on the sidelines trying to figure out what the hell you are doing and waiting to board the train when they see you are about to take off - You Don't Need Them!

Most importantly, Refrain from trying to sell your otherworldly idea, product, service or vision to others.  Why is that, you might ask?  That's because if your idea is truly "otherworldly," then it will be damn near impossible for others to fully grasp and understand what exactly it's all about without them  actually taking the time to get fully immersed into it.  Thus making it impossible for you to try to sell anyone through the standard "dog-and-pony show" or roadshow presentation.

Instead, those who hear or are exposed to your message and vision Have to Sell YOU  on the following:   that they have taken the time to absorb AND fully understand every bit of information that you have already made available to them through whatever medium::  and that they have a great deal to contribute and are sincerely willing to join you on this journey.  The Hell with the Membership Dues if that's all that they are willing to contribute.

Otherwise, you will be plagued with a bunch of infiltrators,  imbeciles, morons and all other sorts of detractors and masters of the art of mass distraction who have nothing but plenty of time to kill on their hands and would love to do nothing less than wreak havoc in your midst.

Therefore, if a potential member asks you one of the following questions:  "What is your value proposition?" or "Do you have any objective evidence for your idea, product, service or vision?" the appropriate response should be:  "There is no need for me to respond. This question has just automatically disqualified you from any sort of further consideration."

The point being, it's not really "evidence," be it objective or subjective, that this person is looking for.  This is really just another way of saying, "I don't really understand what this is all about nor do I really care to take the time to find out.  So just give me something very convincing that I can quickly absorb in order to make a decision."

Now my question to you is this:  Regardless of how much money this person has and is willing to dole out to you, do you really want to have this person in your Circle, discussing and trying to build "anything" from scratch or looking at implementing  any sort of ideas or vision, let alone "otherworldly" ideas?   I am sure that you get my drift.

The only thing that you can offer to others is your "Otherworldly" Idea, Product, Service or Vision of the future.   You can invite the ones who are curious enough and want to know more about it to Come and Join You on this journey in a purely Collaborative effort in a Consortium environment.  You can only present yourself as a Spiritual Guide:: only in terms of communicating the true meaning, essence and spirit of your "Otherworldly" Idea, Product, Service or Vision, and NOT from a religion standpoint.

And everyone who joins you will be required to Lead themselves.  You cannot and must not offer to Lead anyone nor can you accept any request to become someone else's Leader.   You can only Lead yourself.

If the journey that you invite others to embark on will take you to unknown destinations (pleasant, memorable, dangerous or life-threatening) you have a solemn and fiduciary obligation to make that clear to all who express an interest in joining you.   If the length of the journey is unknown or cannot be accurately or reasonably predicted in any way, shape or form, then you must also state that to all parties involved.

Example of an Otherworldly Vision:  The New Virtual Organization World

For example,  my "Otherworldly" Vision of  The New Virtual Organization World ::It's a New Principled World, It's Virtual, and It's Organized:: will take anywhere from 1000's to, perhaps, millions of years to fully realize.   Why is that, you might say?

That's because it's really impossible for anyone to know how long it will take for humankind to evolve from our current archaic, primitive, moronic and barbaric condition; a legacy of our ape forefathers. After billions of years on planet Earth, although, from a technological standpoint, we have made a great deal of progress, nonetheless, from a human evolution standpoint, we haven't evolved one iota.

We still have the same old archaic, primitive and barbaric system of governance passed on down to us by our ape ancestors who lived millions to billions of years ago.  Nothing has really changed.   All humans, without exception, are still a bunch of primitive and barbaric savages living in bondage - yet  99.999999% of us are not even remotely aware of this fact.

The only thing which has changed is that, technology has made it possible for humans to wreak havoc, carnage, misery, destruction and murder on such a large scale that not even our ape ancestors and most ferocious beasts who have ever walked the face of the earth could ever contemplate or imagine.

Hence the reason why I am fairly certain that those who embark on this journey with us will NEVER get to see the full realization of that dream.   The only thing that we can all be assured of is that The New Virtual Organization World course that we have undertaken is all for a just cause;  that we and many other generations of human beings will be able to see some tiny specks of progress during our lifetime;  and that, no matter how long it takes, be it thousands or millions of years from now,  some members of our progeny will eventually get to experience the full realization of our vision of The New Virtual Organization World.
